Self-work lands you in the psychological hell

Self-work is not the way out of hell. It lands you into concentric circles of hell, and you keep going round and round and round. People feel they are committed to being a better version of themselves. A little more self-help...and more...and more... Self-work is never-ending misery with a dream of a rainbow attached to it. The dream keeps you going.
Today's broader spiritual culture puts much emphasis on self-work. It has 'woken' people to deeper reasons why they are angry, sad and ill. There is so much information and constant reminders on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to constantly dig into the 'real' reasons and release them. Everyone is so well informed and wise. Billions are awakened to a deeper 'reality'. The only pity is that all this waking up to deeper truths is not reflected in their daily lives. People still feel unhappy, unquenched, and stranded. What good is this wisdom?
Within the last 25 years of being in Britain, I have noticed that spirituality has become increasingly mainstream while the energy of the collective has dipped and become increasingly morbid. In the last decade, people have looked stressed, puffed up with sorrow, and obese. The collective seems to have lost its mojo. This energetic shift has been accentuated particularly since Covid. It is as though the facade of internal sickness slipped, and it's now all out in the open, written on their faces. Interestingly, a record number of people also seem to know about the 'deeper reality' and metaphysical reasons for their suffering. Naturally, they are engaged in self-healing in one form or another, more and more people feel they are healers and can help others, yet the downward spiral, personal and collective, seems unstoppable.
The Internet has expanded everybody's horizons. Knowledge is on the rise. An exponential rise in the sharing of knowledge has caused a block to assimilation. Time is Life. Social media is stealing your life. It bloates you with either perceived problems the world is facing right now, or millions of spiritual strategies to improve your life. Either way, it's problem-based. No matter how much you try to improve yourself and your life in the problem consciousness, it will not improve. It is very likely to get worse, even if subtly. Because all the focus is on problems. So affirmations, etc, are such a drag! I have clients who are spiritually knowledgeable(whatever that means!), yet totally unsettled, and most of them are teachers, healers or leading meditation classes.
Self-help is corrective energy. Healers, therapists, and so-called spiritual teachers are trying to correct. It only implies brokenness. Energy follows your focus. Your Reality is only your energy (You already know that!) Constant focus on brokenness. It keeps one broken. I have not seen one wholesome spiritual person yet. They are flaky and bloated with empty words, undigested concepts, devoid of essence and clicky. I have said that as kindly as I could. I have seen plenty of normal 'old-fashioned' (those oblivious of neo-spiritual narrative) folks who are flawed but still wholesome and open.
Spirituality is not corrective. Spirituality is all about effortlessness. All correction happens as a result of being open, receptive, keen and committed. Anger, hurt, and sorrow are not because of your past or your personality. They are a shadow of your self-ignorance. Your mind is addicted to its own knowledge. It does not allow you to settle down. If you settle down, you will become peaceful, quite naturally and effortlessly. Spiritual paths and practices serve you only to settle down. Real spirituality takes time and flourishes in silence.
It may take decades for you to settle down, but if you are truly committed, you will understand, honour, and welcome your unfolding. In fact, the more urgent your seeking, the more willing you are to settle down. If you are truly seeking, you don't care if it takes a thousand years, you will be steady and unwavered. With that mindset, one progresses at lightning speed.
Today's rushed and half-baked spiritual knowledge is all stuck in your cerebral space. How can you settle down when you have a phone that is a constant distraction? Time is not your own; your mind is already hijacked, and you are more committed to the whims of your mind than to yourself. Peece is elusive, or you don't have the time or willingness to make room for peace? Most are doing their spiritual journey on social media!.
Surrender- not that boring word again, please!
Self-ignorance does not leave by working on issues and releasing metaphysical reasons for emotions and diseases. It is released by surrender. The mind is a sophisticated mechanism and is invested in keeping you safe; it's meant to keep you safe, so you can run when you see danger, but it has you running from life by creating psychological fears and spread that to every aspect of your life, it lets you barely live, let alone enjoy yourself. This false centre lets you deal with this false world, this false reality, by keeping your false sense of identity safe.
Truth scares your mind. Your mind creates a matchbox version of reality and lets you live within that. It gives you delusions of knowledge and empty words to compensate for its small scale. That is the reason people usually feel bloated with knowledge. True knowledge is the great unknowing, within which the stifling laws of your mind don't exist.
It's a totally different consciousness. It's the creative consciousness, where you don't have to work hard to live as your true potential. to fulfil your dreams. In fact, you have little to dream of when you have real life.
Why is Surrender so unattractive to the mind?
There are two reasons for that. First, the false centre wants everyone else to submit to it. It by default always wants to be at the top, never the bottom. The programmed mind is an impostor. It naturally wants to be seen as the best. Surrender has failed to become a part of the neo-spiritual lexicon because the neo-spirituality is happening within the matchbox of the conditioned mind. Neo-spirituality is all about personal power. The act of surrender is not perceived as very powerful by the conditioned mind. Surrender is submission. Submissiveness landed many cultures in slavery in the recent past. Subconsciously, the Western mind holds empowerment as a desirable attribute, while surrender is undesirable in the Western consciousness. Spirituality has become a rather harmful psychological circus because today's mindset wants to swerve the idea of surrender. We are in a time when your true centre is calling you, but you are beating around the bush because that's what everyone else is doing.
Second, you can only surrender when you are truly in love. Spirituality is not a psychological crutch; it is the most intense form of love affair. Love for God/Self is rare. Today's spiritual scene is not about love of the divine principle; it's all about getting rid of sorrow, issues, and how to become better. Aching and pining for divine love as opposed to being drawn to being spiritual. In the absence of love, surrender is absurd. When you are truly in love, surrender is natural.
Receptivity and surrender take you to the precipice of the great unknowing, that is your divine Self. Surrender your false centre to your true centre. True spirituality is the steady preparation so that you can do just that. All else is ego-fuss. Don't give up until there is no more to give. Give all of you. You will get back all of you and eternity.
